The appellants appealed pesticide use permits issued to the respondents to apply several pesticides in the towns of Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos, and Princeton by means of a truck. They maintained that these pesticides will cause an unreasonable adverse effects on man and the environment and will be more harmful than beneficial. They further stated that the permits provided for no monitoring of the application and the public cannot be assured the application will be carried out with due regard for the environment.
The Board dismissed the appeal, however it did add several restrictions on the permits. It amended the permit to provide for a pesticide free zone in Princeton around the entrance to the street drains. The Board also required notice to be given at least 24 hours before the time of application to notify the public.
